About This Blog

colored pencilsIn my quest to be more grounded and to fulfill a creative itch, I have started this blog. It is my yoga, my easel, my sudoku.

While I am a new mom, and will sometimes write about parenting issues; this is not a “Mommy Blog.” I love my son, and could  probably  write a book about my year at home with him, but that’s not what this is about.

It’s about LIFE – The little mundane things that make living in urban suburbia so amusing, and so challenging, and the bigger issues that come with being a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, and educator.

I’ve spent years teaching Writing Workshop, and love Ralph Fletcher’s books. Writing is always the most challenging, exhausting, and ultimately rewarding part of my day. Each class ends with students sharing their work. The most timid students are encouraged to share just a sentence or two. It’s daunting at any age to sit in the Author’s Chair.

Perhaps the internet makes it a little easier for those of us who shy away from attention, but have something to say. So, I’m taking my seat in the Virtual Author’s Chair. I hope that readers find enjoyment and insight in my posts. And perhaps occasionally, you’ll be moved to clap, or as we teachers prefer, to snap a round of applause.
